One of the things I love about forest, is ferns. These leafy green plants grow wild and are extremely hard to transplant. In the Fall, the leaves shrivel up and turn to dust. But come spring, tiny little curled heads begin to appeal near the forest floor. These little, gracefully curved heads on stems are called "fiddleheads" because that is what they look like. Not long after they gracefully appear, they unfurl into lush green fern leaves, turning the forest floor a lush green again. In that spirit, Thymes has created a Fiddle Fern & Crabapple scent that makes the perfect weekend hostess gift in candle form ($12.50/2 oz. or $32.00/9.5 oz.). A soft, goldenrod-tinted outer carton embellished with copper metallic graphics, holds a substantial, forest green glass votive, wrapped with a deep plum tinted suede cord with a little white ceramic gold disk on it (to wear on your wrist or neck if you wish). The notes are beautiful: Crabapple blossom, buttercup, lily of the valley, and fiddlehead fern. When mixed artfully together, this 4-season scent at first seems fruity, almost reminiscent of pineapple. But then the fresh and floral notes shine through as the candle releases the scent. This unisex fragrance is infused into food-grade paraffin wax that burns slowly enough (without smoking or sputtering), to give you many hours of pleasure. The collection also includes potpourri,a reed diffuser, replacement oil, room spray, and a candle in a tin.

A candle men will enjoy ...

I tried out the new Fiddlehead Fern & Crabapple candle on my boyfriend for a few evenings in a row, and he volunteered that this is the best candle he ever noticed--just loves the aroma. I realized that it worked to stimulate his appetite for dinner, as well! I'm primarily a floral person, while he prefers fruity scents, and somehow this new fragrance combines the best of both worlds.
